Disaster Relief

Lions are already in the community when disaster hits, and they are still there long after the trucks leave. Disaster relief is one of Lions International's eight global causes.

On a street beside a coral-painted house, a Lion in a gold vest and a relief worker in a blue high-visibility vest hand a case of bottled water and a supply carton to a smiling older man in a teal shirt, with a boy standing between them. The carton is labelled Islamic Relief USA and carries the Lions emblem and the words "Nosotros Servimos".

Global cause

The responders who already live there.

Lions International's goal is to take steps to meet immediate needs and provide long-term support for communities devastated by natural disasters. On the initiative itself: when a major catastrophe strikes, Lions are often among the first to respond and the last to leave, and the Disaster Relief Fund helps make sure they are there when they are needed. The advantage is not logistics. It is that a Lions club is already a neighbor before anything happens.

What the Colleyville club does

The club's role here is readiness and support: funding, supplies and volunteers when the district or the foundation calls.

[VERIFY: no Colleyville Lions Club disaster deployment is documented in any source. This page deliberately claims none.]

Support relief through the foundation.

Lions Clubs International is a 501(c)(4) tax-exempt social welfare organization and is not eligible to accept or solicit charitable donations. Lions Clubs International Foundation is the 501(c)(3) charitable organization, and one hundred percent of every donation to it supports LCIF grants and programs.
