Youth
Three ways a young person in Colleyville ends up working with Lions.
Lions International's youth goal is to support young people so they can make positive choices, lead healthy and productive lives, and become the next generation of service leaders. Locally that resolves into three specific things with dates attached.
- Scholarships. College awards for graduating seniors in GCISD, for private and parochial school students living inside the Colleyville city boundaries, and for homeschooled seniors. Complete applications must be postmarked no later than April 1.
- Peace Poster Contest. Open to students aged 11, 12 or 13 as of November 15. The 2026-2027 theme is Harmony in Humanity.
- Texas Lions Camp. A residential camp in Kerrville, free of charge to campers and their families.
And one more, through the district
The Drug Awareness Speech Contest awards up to $6,000 in scholarship prizes across the district and state rounds, and every applicant must be sponsored by a Lions club inside District 2-E2. The sponsoring club and the district pay all entry fees for the applicants they sponsor.
[VERIFY: whether the Colleyville Leo Club is currently active. The club's own scholarship form is the only source that mentions it.]
Start with the scholarship deadline.
The Colleyville Lions Club has awarded scholarships for over a decade. The application is a complete package: application form, photograph, a signed counselor or principal form, a personal statement of 500 words or less, three letters of recommendation and a signed acknowledgement of terms. It must arrive as one package, and it must be postmarked no later than April 1. Incomplete submissions are ineligible.
A week at camp, free of charge.
Texas Lions Camp serves children from across Texas who have physical disabilities, Down syndrome, cancer, type 1 diabetes and other special medical conditions. Colleyville Lions donate to the camp annually, send volunteers to work weekends, and encourage local families to apply.
