Scholarships
The club awards college scholarships to graduating seniors in GCISD, area private schools and homeschools. Applications must be postmarked by April 1.
Collegiate Scholarship Program
Who the program is for.
The Colleyville Lions Club Collegiate Scholarship Program exists to seek individuals that have displayed leadership, commitment to the community and personal achievement. Eligibility covers three groups.
- Seniors in the Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District.
- Seniors living within the geographic boundaries of the City of Colleyville who attend parochial and private schools, or who are homeschooled.
- Members of the Colleyville Leo Club who have served two or more years.
The program is approved by the Colleyville Lions Club Board of Directors, funded by the Colleyville Lions Club Foundation, and administered by a Scholarship Committee. The club has awarded scholarships for over a decade.

The scoring is published, which is unusual.
Most scholarship programs never tell you how they weigh an application. This one does.
- Financial need: 30 percent.
- Personal attributes: 25 percent.
- Honors, extracurricular activities, community service and work experience: 25 percent.
- Academic achievement: 20 percent.

One package. One deadline.
Everything must be submitted together. Incomplete submissions will be considered ineligible.
- The complete application package, with a photograph on page 2.
- A signed Counselor or Principal form.
- A personal statement of 500 words or less.
- Three letters of recommendation.
- A signed Acknowledgement of Terms, plus a parent signature if the applicant is under 18.

What happens after April 1.
Finalists are interviewed on a Saturday in late April or early May in Colleyville. Each interview runs about thirty minutes, and recipients are notified within 72 hours. The award is presented as a certificate at a club meeting and is redeemable upon proof of enrollment. Funds are deposited into the recipient's school account for tuition, textbooks and related school costs.

Tarrant County College students have a separate path.
The club's own application form notes that additional opportunities are available to Tarrant County College students, and directs applicants to contact TCC or the Colleyville Lions Club. It is a different award from the program above, with different eligibility and a different deadline.
