Where the events came from
The SightFirst Charity Hole-in-One Shootout has been run since 1988 — the longest-running of the club's four flagship events, and the only one whose origin year the club has ever published.
Breakfast with Santa and the Easter Egg Festival are both decades old. Their 2026 editions were the 31st and the 16th. The club has never published the year either one started, and this page will not back-calculate a year and present it as fact.

Serving under a mission older than the club
The Colleyville club joined something that started in 1917, when a Chicago businessman named Melvin Jones asked what would happen if business leaders put their talent to work for their communities instead of themselves. The first national convention was held that October in Dallas.
In 1925, Helen Keller stood in front of the Lions convention at Cedar Point, Ohio, and challenged Lions to become “knights of the blind in the crusade against darkness.” Vision service has been the organisation's signature ever since — and the name of the club's own Knights of Sight golf tournament comes straight from that sentence.

The club's own history page has promised charter members, past presidents and a “where are they now” section since 2021. It has never carried them, and this page is not going to invent them.
