Vision
Sight is the service Lions are known for. Free children's vision screening is offered at club events, and Colleyville Lions volunteer at the District 2-E2 Eyeglass Recycling Center.
Since 1925
Helen Keller asked Lions to become knights of the blind. The answer is still being given.
In 1925, at the Lions convention at Cedar Point, Ohio, Helen Keller challenged Lions to become knights of the blind in the crusade against darkness. Lions International puts it this way now: since 1925, Lions International has been a champion in helping combat vision impairment and blindness. In Colleyville that heritage shows up as a folding table, a screening chart and a Saturday morning.
- Free children's vision screening at Breakfast with Santa and at the Easter Egg Festival, at no cost to families.
- Eyeglass recycling shifts at the District 2-E2 Eyeglass Recycling Center: cleaning, sorting and packaging donated eyeglasses for communities where access to vision care is limited.
- School and community screening the club has run with GCISD and with area senior programs.

The District 2-E2 Eyeglass Recycling Center is at 5621 Bunker Blvd., Watauga, TX 76148, in the rear portion of Lion Eloy Leal's State Farm office. Volunteer workdays run in two shifts, 9:00 a.m. to noon and noon to 3:00 p.m., and the job is exactly what it sounds like: clean, sort, measure and package.
