Contests
Contests with real prize money behind them.
All of these run through Lions, and each one needs a sponsoring club. That is where Colleyville comes in.
- Peace Poster Contest. Open to students aged 11, 12 or 13 as of November 15. The 2026-2027 theme is Harmony in Humanity, and the international grand prize is US$5,000.
- Drug Awareness Speech Contest. Open to juniors and seniors in a Texas public high school or comparable program who intend to attend college. District prizes are $3,000, $2,000 and $1,000, with the same again at state level, up to $6,000 in total. Every applicant must be sponsored by a District 2-E2 Lions club, and the club and district pay the entry fees.
- Youth Poster Contest. Run by the District 2-E2 Drug Awareness Council alongside Red Ribbon Week.
College scholarships, decided on a published rubric.
The Colleyville Lions Club Collegiate Scholarship Program is open to graduating seniors in GCISD, to private and parochial school students living inside the Colleyville city boundaries, and to homeschooled seniors. Applications must be complete and postmarked no later than April 1. Financial need carries 30 percent of the score, personal attributes 25 percent, honors and service 25 percent, and academic achievement 20 percent.
A week at Texas Lions Camp, free of charge.
Texas Lions Camp in Kerrville serves children from across Texas with physical disabilities, Down syndrome, cancer, type 1 diabetes and other special medical conditions. Everything is provided free of charge to campers and their families. Families can learn more or refer a camper at lionscamp.com.
Service, not just applications.
The club's family events run free children's vision screening, and events that size need hands. Students who want service hours generally want them at something real.
[VERIFY: the club's youth volunteer path, minimum age, and whether a parent must accompany a student volunteer. Also confirm whether the Colleyville Leo Club is currently active, as it is named only on the club's scholarship form.]
